“Mindfulness: Meditation Practices for Practitioners and Clients to be Calmer, Less Reactive, and More Resilient.” Multidisciplinary criminal defense work is challenging. It can often feel exhausting and emotionally draining. One solution to develop balance and resilience is found in the centuries-old practice of mindfulness. This presentation focuses on the reasons why mindfulness meditation can help calm the brain and decrease stress and burnout. Specific mindfulness meditation techniques will be introduced to ease into a comfortable and approachable mindfulness practice. Recognizing that clients can also benefit from mindfulness techniques at different stages of their incarceration and criminal case progression, mindfulness practices for clients will also be discussed.
